166 Days Until HURT 100 Trail race for 2016
I’m in! Today my name was drawn to participate in the HURT 100 in January and I’m both humbled and thrilled to know that January 2016 is going to be my year to put my self on that amazing course. And that’s what this blog is all about . . . for now. I say “for now” because HURT will come and go and, unless I’m injured, I’ll still be running and will continue to share this journey. It’s actually been an amazing adventure. In this blog I’ll be sharing bits and pieces of it for your entertainment at my expense.
I’m not someone who grew up running. In high school wrestling was my sport along with volleyball (and I got recruited into football my senior year), but running was the grunt work. A few years ago I got hooked on the idea of running after listening to the book, “Born to Run” and got curious. I know I share the same experience with many. Stand up paddle races were what I was into at the time and I was looking for ways to cross train, and stumbled into the book. After finishing I decided to try and run a marathon distance around town with no training, fueled on the thought of “I wonder if?” Well, I did it and was hooked on the sport.
Since that first long run, it’s been a blast. I’m honored to look forward to HURT and I’ve got some pretty mean races to get through between now and then. This year has been amazing for me and so far everything is falling into place. Welcome to the “Run with Nate” blog. Aloha!
